Senior Technical Analyst VMware ESX⁄Windows

Our global pharmaceutical client based in Basel is now looking for a Senior Technical Analyst VMware ESX/Windows to join their team on a permanent basis.

The Role:

•Support first and second-tier technical staff in the resolution of system issues
•Maintain documentation for operational, configuration or other procedural purposes to a high standard
•Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades and resource optimization as required
•Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment which requires third-party vendor hardware skills (CISCO UCS) VMware ESX
•Strong knowledge to maintain an enterprise-wide virtual infrastructure using ESXi v5 or higher
•Set up distributed virtual switch configuration
•Set up HA, DRS, server and storage Motion
•Develop and execute ESX patch strategies
•Implement ESX backup concepts
•Design and implement best practices processes, policies and procedures for the virtual machine life cycle
•Define, implement and maintain disaster recovery for systems running on virtual infrastructure VMware Certified Professional Windows
•Install new/rebuild existing Windows server OS 2008 and higher and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
•Familiar with Active Directory Domain Administration & Group Policy, Powershell, Vbscript, & Batch automated tasks
•Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for systems Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrade administrative tools and utilities
•Manage and Monitor Software
•Maintain efficiency through performance tuning and capacity planning
•Maintain server monitoring tools, e.g. SCOM

Your profile:

•Five or more years of professional experience in the subject area (VMware ESX/Windows)
•Experience working in a high availability and redundant environment (Disaster Recovery and Clustering Technologies)
•Translate concepts into operational reality
•Good command of written and spoken English, French or German is a plus
